How often should your office be cleaned?
Most offices should be cleaned daily or every second day. Smaller, quieter offices can manage on two or three visits a week. The right frequency depends on headcount, foot traffic and whether you have a kitchen, washrooms or client-facing areas.
What decides the frequency
- Staff and foot traffic: more people means mess and germs build faster.
- Washrooms and kitchens: these need attention every day.
- Client-facing areas: reception and meeting rooms always need to look right.
- Industry: medical, childcare and food businesses need more frequent cleans and a higher standard.
A rough guide
- 15+ staff, high traffic or client-facing: daily.
- 5 to 15 staff: every second day or three times a week.
- Small or quiet office: once or twice a week, with periodic deep cleans.
The cost trade-off
Daily cleaning costs more each week but less per visit. It also keeps the standard steady. Stretching the visits out saves a little money. The catch is that bins, washrooms and grime get away on you, which staff notice straight away.
Check it as you grow
Review the frequency when your team grows or moves. A good cleaner adjusts the schedule with you instead of locking you into the wrong plan.
