How to audit your current cleaning provider (red flags to watch for)

Auditing your cleaner comes down to four checks. Are the scheduled cleans happening? Is the work done to the agreed scope? How are complaints handled? Is their insurance and compliance current?

How to run a quick audit

  • Visits: ask your staff or building manager whether the scheduled cleans are happening.
  • Quality: walk the washrooms, high-touch points and floors with the scope in hand.
  • Complaints: count them and note how fast they were fixed.
  • Compliance: check the insurance, WHS documents and SDS register are current.

Red flags it’s time to switch

  • Cleans that get skipped or cut short.
  • Standards that lift before an inspection, then drop.
  • The same areas missed again and again.
  • Slow or no response when you raise an issue.
  • Reluctance to hand over compliance documents.
