How to switch commercial cleaners without disruption

Switching cleaners is easier than most people expect. Check your notice period, line up the new provider before you cancel, hand over the keys and start the new service the day after the old one ends. Worrying about a gap keeps plenty of businesses stuck with a bad cleaner.

1. Check your current contract

Find your notice period (often 30 days) and any obligations at the end of the contract. Note the date you can exit cleanly.

2. Line up the new provider first

Get the replacement quoted, scoped and scheduled before you give notice. That way there’s no gap. A good provider handles the timing for you.

3. Plan the handover

Sort keys, alarm codes, swipe access and parking for the new team. Return the old keys on the outgoing cleaner’s last day.

4. Give written notice

Tell your current cleaner in writing. Reference the contract terms and your final service date.

5. Start the new service

The new cleaner starts on the next scheduled slot. Walk the site after the first clean to check the new standard.
